HONEY!... from BEES!Looking for a natural healthy tasty product? Look no further - you've found Nunhead Honey. Our hives have survived through the winter, and our lovely girls are working hard to produce honey for us all. We'll be harvesting in August/September. Once again the East Dulwich Deli will be stocking our honey, and you can buy from them or direct from us. A 12 oz jar will again be priced at £5.00. See our contact details.
From the hives in our garden, the bees work tirelessly, visiting gardens and open spaces up to three miles away to make this delicious natural product. Of course, they don't do it for us, they do it for themselves, and then we take it from them.
However, unlike some beekeeepers, we never take it all and then feed the bees on sugar syrup, we believe they deserve to keep a decent proportion of the fruits of their labours to see them through the winter.Being a wonderful, natural product, the taste and the consistency can vary from year to year, and sometimes it is more likely to crystallise when it gets cold. If this happens to your jar, just place it in a bowl of warm water and watch is return to its wonderful golden runny self. Many of you will have heard that local honey may help combat the symptoms of hay fever, and that's why we started this enterprise in the first place, just to help ourselves. Like so many hobbies, it soon became addictive and we now have more honey than we can possibly eat. This year's harvest will be ready in the middle of September 2009, and we'll put some pictures on the site as soon as it's ready, along with the price. Please get in touch if you'd like to buy some. Actually, feel free to get in touch even if you don't want to buy some; we'd love to talk to you!
